Spectacle & Street Art
Street spectacle always fascinated me. I was inspired by companies like Macnas, the New Model Army, Royal Deluxe — seeing what they could do in public space.I worked with bands and on stages creating spectacle and always imagined those things outside, in the streets. When I was studying in Belfast I got training in street spectacle as part of the peace process work — creating non-confrontational, creative, beautiful street events. That stuck with me. It's a different energy than working in galleries or fixed spaces.

"Renew - Luisne"
This is the first in my "Renew series" in the summer of 2012, using stick and acrylic paint I have created work with the Luisne group based in Ballinrobe, this project took place over six workshops in april and May. The work was later installed in the sensory garden of the Cranmore centre in Ballinrobe.
"Renew - Turlough"
This is part of a series of work I have undertaken this year, I orrigionally concieved of this process of gathering and painting sticks whilst on a residency in Rauma - Finland in 2000, I have returned to this work this year with a emphisis in participation from the audience /workshop participants. I was in The National Museum of Country Life at Turlough House for three days at the end of June as part of the "On Sight" arts project in association with the Mayo Art squad and the Museum education dept. I was there preparing painting and installing the sticks on the grounds and the public were welcome to participate, I had a series of engaging and
facinating conversations with people from all over Ireland and around the world and their mark is lest in the finished work. The piece will be on display till the end of August.
